386. Bagdad Soldier Wounded on Peleliu 1944

US Army Private John "Johnnie" Jasper Bolton, the son of Sarah Catherine Bolton was wounded in action during the Battle of Peleliu in the South Pacific. The battle last from September 15, to November 27, 1944 at the cost 8,000 US casualties and 13,600 Japanese killed. He enlisted on June 23, 1942 and attached to the Army's 81st Infantry Division, he was wounded in the head. He was discharged on September 30, 1945. Born in 1905, he would pass away in 1984.
